Carmel & the Tale of the Bolero Hat.

after a few days of being in california, i started peace signing in my photos. i'm cheesy. but i now understand why so many "californians" are compelled to do this! we went to this quaint adorable town called Carmel, and 5 minutes into being on the beach, my hat was windswept into the ocean. all of you vintage hat collectors out there probably understand how sad this is :( but we went to a hat store, and they helped us comb the sand off! now it is as good as new!

we ate dinner one town over in this cute seafood restaurant on the pier. scenic drives and perfect weather, i could get used to this ;) but i have to say, driving home along the PCH at night had me on the edge of my seat. here's some AA riding pants styled up. i was on the cusp about this purchase, but the amazing color had me sold. they are mighty tight for my taste, but i think with an oversized top they can be cute!

holiday spirit in big sur.

Big Sur is one of the most beautiful places. If you like perfect weather and perfect views (which, who doesn't!) it's a must-see. I remember when I roadtripped with my parents at 14 in california we stopped here, and stayed in a log cabin. I never forgot how much I loved the place, and knew we had to come back. we spent a day in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. The great thing about it, is it is so close to Carmel and Monterrey, so we could go into town for dinner! If any of you are from around here, or live close enough to drive by a few times a year, you are LUCKY. it held a special spot in my heart.

it was pretty chilly in the early morning, and then it warmed up during the day, so it was the perfect weather to bring out my christmas-y sweaters!! i took full advantage. ;) The skirt is vintage, and i shortened it because it was tea length and puffy when i bought it...

Big Sur & the polka dotted twins.

We camped at this beautiful campground called Kirk Creek in Big Sur. It was up there on my list of prettiest places i've ever been to. we parked Sunny D right on the edge of a cliff and slept looking out at this view. if this isn't living... i don't know what is! my best friend sara and i thrifted polka dotted getups from this vintage store in LA to match. How can you drive in a 1970's van if you aren't in vintage? you just can't.

being a part of such beautiful surroundings while being with such beautiful people really put things into perspective. life is so much about the people we choose to surround ourselves with. ♥ we are lucky to have such great friends. ok.. get ready for more photos. i definitely have more coming!

the beginnings of our journey across california.

it started as a dream. we dreamt of driving across california in a VW van... i dreamt about it since i was little, and we dreamt about it since we've met. then when we booked a trip to california to visit our best friends, matt found a company that rents VW vans, and our dream became a reality. our journey began in LA with our best friends Sara & Edgar, and here's some pictures from the beginning on our drive up the PCH toward Big Sur. it really is a different world in california, a gorgeous, hill-filled wonderland with the most perfect weather. east coast, you may be outdone :)
