too much turkey and not enough room for pie.

this thanksgiving was one of those days that stays with you forever. the weather was beautiful--- 50 degrees in the morning, 75 by noon. matt and i walked around a deserted lincoln road and soaked in the perfect weather. then we went to matt's parents house and spent the day cooking, reading and being together. i ate so much turkey and stuffing and sweet potato that by the time we got to dessert, i didn't have much room left. so unlike me! then matt and i collapsed on the couch and didn't move for literally an hour. it was amazing and awful at the same time.

buffalo checks & vintage trousers.

I've been wearing a lot of "holiday plaids" mixed with vintage finds. I love feeling like Annie Hall on the way to a holiday party. It's sort of a shame to me how easy it is to gravitate toward comfortable jeans and sweaters these days. i will admit that tight high waisted trousers are not the most comfortable, but there's something beautiful about being dressed up all the time. it really puts me in the shoes of women back in the 1950's/60's. While i am a lover of denim (sometimes) i truly believe that it took some of the fun out of fashion for us women! :)

I wore this for a morning of thrifting with my parents. My dad is building me a door for my seating chart at the wedding, but we thought maybe we could find one. no such luck! I am off to soak in the thanksgiving vibes around me, have a lovely day.

my bridal shower ♥

my mom and my two maids of honor, lacey and alex, planned my bridal shower. i knew it was going to be a tea party, but i didn't know too many other details, so it was really fun seeing all of their cute projects and games that they made! the place was absolutely adorable, and i could tell how hard they all worked to make it perfect for me! i had been looking forward to it for a few months, and the day went by in the blink of an eye. i actually remember checking the time and being a little sad that only 30 minutes were left!

lacey had everyone play a game of "he said/she said" where they lifted a moustache for quotes from matt and lips for quotes from me. then alex had everyone play an add libs game from a vintage magazine. we ate some yummy salads and sandwiches, and then my mom had everyone play "pin the ring on the groom" and "guess steffy's age." at the end we opened gifts and matt and my dad/brothers/ future father-in-law came! i will always cherish these photos, and remember how beautiful it felt to be surrounded by my closest friends in celebration of matt and i. it's a day i imagined in my head since i was a little girl. the light was perfectly shining into the room we were in, and the little tea pots had the most delicious tea. ♥ i honestly couldn't ask for better friends or family.

a vintage plaid getup.

so here i am, morning of my bridal shower, feeling sort of like i did when i was a 13-year-old. the biggest question i keep getting is "how do you feel? nervous? excited?" .. well i actually really just feel shocked! i cannot believe i am a grown up. it happened, and who knows when? and MATT IS A GROWN UP TOO. when we met, we were just a bunch of kids, in college, going out to house parties dancing silly to the faint and cut copy until odd hours in the morning. now we're planning a whole life. life goes by way too fast. i guess i am just having too much fun along the way.

i'm off to seize the day :)

engagement shoot preview...

wedding planning is going swimmingly! tomorrow i have my dress fitting, and then saturday is my bridal shower! i cannot WAIT. i want to remember all of these special moments, and will definitely be sharing pictures with you :)

oh those dancing llamas...

there's this spot on lincoln road called "PAUL" that i always wanted to try, and finally before matt left for italy last week we went there! it is my new go-to spot... they not only have amazing french pastries but they serve coffee the most convenient way. they bring it to you in a little serving pitcher, so you can refill yourself all you want! i love sitting there catching up, drinking way too many cups of coff. 

it has been slightly nicer outside, and we even had a cold front a few days ago. i keep telling myself i am done buying cutesy sweaters, but i must be an addict. anyway, how could this one not catch my eye? someday in colder winters all of these sweaters will be put to good use! :)

p.s. matt mentioned that i NEVER wear my hair up, so i tried it out...
