romanticism.

Posted on 5:35 AM by ergeg

hello and a happy monday to you. i just woke up and am going to go for a run before i head into work. i've been pushing myself to be less lazy and to run more, because it always makes me feel so good. much better than laying around for an hour before work lurking the internets :) florida is finally feeling a little cooler in the mornings (a LITTLE), which makes it that much easier to workout. winter runs are my favorite thing ever. ♥

i wore this outfit for a day full of errands. i love the mix of pattern and texture. some days i just feel like being a girly girl! the pattern on the shorts is sort of my dream pattern. like... if i could have my couch, comforter and drapes look like that, i would.

stuffed calzones from homemade dough with matty!

Posted on 9:58 AM by ergeg

here is my recipe for homemade calzones! I use a basic pizza dough recipe that i've been using for years.

This would make about 10 calzones, give or take.

4 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1 3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp instant yeast
2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 3/4 C cold H2O

1. stir flour, salt, yeast in bowl or mixer to combine

2. slowly add oil and cold water while mixing until the dough comes together. it's just right when it's springy, smooth and doesn't stick to your dry hands, but isn't too dry and floury. it will take a few minutes of kneading to get here.

3. flour your cutting board and cut the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll them into balls. place them on a plate with room to expand and cover with plastic wrap, then refrigerate for an hour or up to a full day before using. the dough can also be frozen

4. To make the calzones, cut each of these balls into 3 pieces when they are ready and make smaller balls. then roll them out and fill them with some mushrooms, onions, peppers, ricotta and mozzarella cheese. you can fill them with basically anything you want. Seal them and cut little holes on top to allow steam to escape, and bake them at 450 degrees on a preheated pizza stone. they come out amazing!

a day of thrifting.

Posted on 8:59 PM by ergeg

some weeks, like this one, i work on the weekends and have 2 random weekdays off. i used to mind, but now i kind of like having peaceful days off where the thrift stores are empty, and i can run errands without lines :) plus, matt's schedule is always random and sometimes we get weekdays off together! like this tuesday! we spent the day thrifting and cooking, it was awesome.

i've been wearing a lot of peach lately, so here's a peachy outfit! it definitely isn't quite fall, but i am rushing it because in all honesty i am unhappy in florida, and a gal can dream can't she? sometimes i feel content with florida because south beach is amazing, but i continue to dream about moving back up north. my goal is to be in ny in 2 years :) one day i will truly get to feel fall once again. til' then, i will be here dreaming of cozy sweaters and tea!

easy dressing on lincoln rd.

Posted on 8:48 PM by ergeg

happy almost monday from my little cozy bed in south beach, florida. i'm quite sleepy, but wanted to update the blog since it has been a minute! i had saturday off, and threw on this easy outfit to go read mags and drink tea on lincoln rd. i've been wearing my hair up in milkmaid braids and parting it in the center--- just to change it up! lately i've been craving comfortable outfits that are carefree... i think i'm in a phase :)

i've also decided not to drink coffee! it has been 4 days! i am still sort of tired and feeling withdrawal, but i feel so much more hydrated! you know, new seasons and LOTS of change! i love change. i can't wait to wake up and change the store around at work. (lol). these are my thoughts before bed. i know, im slightly crazy. goodnight!!

wedding planning: the realization!

Posted on 7:43 PM by ergeg

i am trying to post a wedding update each week, but to be honest there are some weeks where planning slows down for us. i've realized that these "slow weeks" are a huge and important part of the planning process-- they are the part of the process where i have time to let it all sink in, and deeply think about what marriage means. it is on these weeks that i feel the most gratitude and excitement that all of this planning ends in matt being my husband, which is the best gift that life has given me yet.

this time being engaged has truly changed me and the way i think and see my own relationship. it's helped me to not take it for granted at all, and also to really let it sink in that this incredible, unique, amazing person has picked ME, yes ME to spend his entire life with him. it's so easy to get caught up in the flowers and the cake and the dress and the gift bags and all of the little details that really do make the guests happy at the party, and in all of these intricacies to lose site of the true joys of the engagement period. this time is the time where i see matt in a totally different light. i begin to see him in his entirety, i picture him at different stages of life, i see him as the father of our future kids, and i see him as the motivated beautiful person that he is. i love these weeks of non-planning, because they are weeks of "matt-ing" where we can stop talking about the wedding plans and start talking about the life plans. and that's what matters in the end, right?

did you all see these emotional changes during your engagement too?

p.s. here's some photos from some pampering with my girlfriends today! we learned about a new skin care regimen!

♥ wishing i could invent some other wardrobe staple other than a dress, a skirt or pants. do you ever just get bored with traditional clothing?
♥ last night i started buying my wedding gifts. i can't wait to put together cute goodie bags for my bridesmaids, and i got my mom a really nice gift :) (mom i will never tell haha)

when in white.

Posted on 4:56 PM by ergeg

happy monday! i've been spending my afternoon watching orange is the new black. i am hooked. anyone watch?

it's been rainy lately and all i've been wanting to wear is white. lol. i've been wearing it with grey, with pops of color and i love it with red! i picked up this cozy tee at F21 and love how comfy and versatile it is! it's slowly been feeling more like fall in the mornings and at night. my first move is reaching for my boots :)

p.s. i am marrying this man in 152 days! i'm so excited!

i ♥ brocade.

Posted on 9:05 PM by ergeg

here i am at the hotel all my wedding guests are going to be staying at! it's quite the scenic place, with a sort of 1990's vintage vibe, so it was fun to take these pictures there!

there's tons of trends i could live without, and i really wouldn't call myself "trendy," but i have to say i love this brocade trend that's in this season. anything with a black and red-wine pattern (and some flecks of gold) is up my alley. i paired the top with this fluted skirt i snagged from my work, and all vintage! there's nothing like some vintage to make an outfit feel my own. it's been a tiring week and i am off to sleep! goodnight!
