internet, meet one of my oldest friends courtney! she lives in LA, but was visiting this past weekend. she probably knows me better than anyone else in the world (except my other best friend lacey), and it was lovely being able to go to brunch and share old stories & a few new ones. whenever i see old friends, it just reminds me how the most important thing in life [to me] are the amazing people that i've met along the way. the next time i get to see her is my wedding weekend, which is CRAZY. she's a bridesmaid. thank you so much for all of your flower suggestions. it really is SO fun connecting with your experiences, and feeling like i am not alone in this process! i am so excited to keep sharing more information about the wedding and getting your feedback!

wedding updates!

our wedding is getting closer (only 6 months, can you believe it!?) and i thought i would start to share weekly updates for anyone else who is planning a wedding out there. PLUS, i need your help. i've never planned a party this important before, so it will be fun to hear your feedback and advice about planning your own weddings! i got the idea from mara, as i loved following her planning process. To start, i found a dress and shoes! it was actually not the most fun process to me, because i knew exactly what i wanted and felt like it was hard to find. all the dresses are so puffy and overstated, so i was glad to find one more simple. i am going to keep it a secret until the big day :) .

we also booked our venue, and will be getting married in an antique barn. we've taken care of all the big bookings such as caterers, DJ, etc, and now we are moving on to the detailing (the hard part for me!) next weekend matt, my parents, his parents and i are going to meet with the cake baker and the florist, so today i wanted to share some of my inspiration. how did you choose the flowers at your wedding? is there anything i should bring in preparation for the appointment! fill me in, ladies!

it's official.

we're now officially locals, because we brought our bikes to the beach. they were in storage for a few months! i've been getting to know south beach in a whole different way, learning mini side streets and stopping into little local grocers along the way. there's something special about having the bikes --- it means we're here to stay. it's such a great city to ride a bike in, there's side streets and back roads so it is more safe.

i got this sweater from work last week, and have worn it at some point in the day for every day since. i just love it THAT much. i can't wait until i don't have to roll the sleeves up and pair it with mini skirts to keep from overheating.

you know how sometimes you put on an outfit and feel like a million bucks? you open up your closet and the perfect outfit just jumps out at you... that was this day! i didn't even change once! these two colors are perfect together, and pinafore skirts are my new go-to! i love pairing something trendy and new with all vintage items, it's a beautiful contrast :)

so matt and i coincidentally matched wearing cat attire today. awkward :) we don't even own a cat, but i guess that's the beauty of it! if we wore clothing with weenie dogs allover, would we be even weirder? idk...

i wore this after i got off work, i always change into more comfortable clothes after work. then matt and i shopped around to find his wedding suit (we are ahead of the game LOL). we ended up getting it at j.crew, surprise surprise, right? then we got fresh veggies and cooked a fun meal. matt is going to share the recipe with you later this week! xo!

summer braids.

we just took a lovely sunset walk around the beach with our weenie. it has still been so hot, and we really only enjoy walking around in the evening. the bright side is that it's mid-august, and by october/november it will be a few degrees cooler! in florida we don't look forward to "the fall," we more-so look forward to being able to spend more than 5 minutes outside without our entire back drenched in sweat. romantic, isn't it? i'm actually really just counting down the days until i get to marry my best friend. we're down to 182! :)

i've jumped on the overalls bandwagon, although i already got my toes wet last summer with some vintage ones. i am a picky overalls wear-er, and definitely know they can be oh so right, or oh so wrong. i fell in love with this floral pair, though. you only really need ONE good pair, so here's mine!

my simple and beautiful mornings.

i have been thinking a lot lately about life's beauty. i attribute these thoughts to my job, which is based around making clothing look beautiful. this goal of constant beauty has slowly trickled into every aspect of my life, and i'm realizing that i enjoy creating a picturesque world for myself. i sometimes feel like i see my own life through a lens constantly, and have to wonder if many photographers think or feel the same way. or i wonder if it is my own heightened senses and ever-presence that creates my awareness for little details that are normal, yet oh so beautiful.

sometimes, when i see two colors next to each other, my heart beats a little faster. other times, i look at something as plain as my own fridge, and it makes my insides glow with happiness. there is just so much beauty everywhere, it really makes it easy to be alive and to feel alive. i wanted to capture how i felt this morning, so here's some photos :)
